The wait is almost over. After multiple previews and hands-on at all the conventions earlier this year we finally got all the details on DC Universe Online at this years Comic Con.  So here is a bullet point of all the things you need to know:

Release Date: November 2, 2010: For me it certainly can not come soon enough. After playing the game multiple times I can say this MMO is doing what no other MMO has done well before.

Beta Starts: First Week of August: Now if you sign up for the beta you must understand this,”IT’S NOT HOW THE GAME IS GOING TO TURN OUT!!!” Everybody fails to understand this its not a demo and its not a preview. It’s a chance for the players to give developers feedback on the game and to tell them what you would like to see in the game. If you get into beta just do what your told by the devs and look for bugs for them to fix. Thats what a beta is for. Platforms: Playstation 3 and PC: In my opinion the game is meant to be played with a controller. Whether you play with a third-party controller on the PC or a PS3 controller you must play with a controller!!!!

Subscription Plan: $15.00: US No announcements have been made regarding international and UK subscription fees.

Trailer: This trailer was made by the people at Blur Studios. The same people who are making the trailer’s for Star Wars: The Old Republic. So you already know this is going to be a epic trailer of epic awesomeness.

So I turned on Tiger Woods ‘11 today to have some relax time and disregarded the update yesterday until I looked at my screen and saw something of interest. What is it that I spied my prying eyes? Move directions.

It seems to appear that EA has already patched the title with full move support. So when you pick up a PS Move you can enjoy it right out of the box. I have to admit that this is great news for Tiger and Move fans out there who are hoping their existing library will be compatible. Time to find out what other titles will be patched in the coming weeks leading up to the release of Playstation Move on September 19th in the US and September 15th in the UK.

Looks to appear this will put Move one step ahead of Kinect unless Microsoft gets patching games ASAP. For some reason I don’t see that happening as easily as thought. Now sees the question of which will be superior in the Tiger Woods 11 Online universe. Move users or gamepad/controller users? Time will tell, soon as we get our hands on this piece of hardware we will be sure to let everyone know what we think about it.

Dragon Age Origins hasn’t quite gone in my good books for downloadable content as it stands, let’s face it, it’s going to take a lot to take Fallout 3 off the DLC throne. Regardless, after the surprisingly good Leliana’s Song Bioware have announced Golems of Amgarrak to arrive on August 10th for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation.

Curve Studios has announced today that they are planning to release Explodemon! the PSN’s next big 2.5D platformer. The game takes heavy influences from platformers of the past. Check out the screenshots and full release below.

Explodemon! is a 2.5D platform action game brought kicking and screaming into the HD era. Influenced by classic Japanese games from the golden era of the SNES, players use Explodemon’s self-destructive nature to combat enemies and fly through the air, all the while solving a huge variety of physics-based puzzles (and, naturally, causing incalculable collateral damage).

When the peaceful planet of Nibia is attacked by the malicious Vortex forces, the fate of the star system is thrust into the one pair of hands it shouldn’t be: the malfunctioning Guardian robot Explodemon. His comic quest to repel the onslaught and restore peace will take him across three distinct planets over twelve levels, with new abilities and gameplay mechanics introduced throughout.

EA is known for having everyone pay for DLC from holes in golf, or clubs or even upgrade packs to fully unlock everything without doing the work. Well that has come to change. It seems EA and Black Box have snuck up behind us and pulled a fast one! If you put in your Skate 3 Disc and go to where the DLC is (On the PS3 it is in the pause menu then hit Square) and you will see free DLC added.

Picture That, Now Dark

The DLC is the After Dark Pack. Honestly I’m amazed that EA hasn’t really promoted this. It allows you to now skate in the dark for the first time in the series! Not only that but it brings back the classic San Van DIY park.

No word yet if it is available on the Xbox 360. If someone could confirm this it would be great! Happy Skating!

Earlier today Sony announced that Socom 4 has been delayed till 2011. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to people who were following the title seeing that there has not been any new information on the title in quite some time, honestly since the reveal.  Below is the full announcement as reported by IGN.
“Sony broke the news today with the following statement:

“We can confirm that SOCOM 4 will be released in 2011. The team is focusing on additional features which will help to deliver the most compelling and immersive SOCOM experience yet. Please look out for further updates and announcements over the coming months.” ”

TGH: Well that certainly changes a few things. Can Sony’s holiday lineup still be amazing? Yes..LBP2 ‘nuf said.

Sam & Max return once again in the episodic Devil’s Playhouse series in Sam & Max the Devil’s Playhouse episode 4 “Beyond the alley of the dolls.” (Hint: it’s a very old movie) Beyond the alley of the dolls is the 4^th episode but, does it beat out the rest of the episodes before it or will this episode fail to bring anything new to the table.

STORY:

In episode three of Sam & Max, the villain Sammun-Mak took over Max’s body to rule the world. The efforts of Sam & Max stopped the evil Sammun-Mak by using a ancient tool to take out his brain from Max’s body. After everything was returned to semi-normal, Papierwaite was in a state of panic. Soon a bunch of Sam clones came from behind Papierwaite. Soon Sam & Max ran for their lives to get away from the dogglegangers.(That’s what Max calls them(Sam’s Clone)They soon ran into Stinky’s Dinner to escape the Sam clones and find out what do they want and need. They soon find out that the dogglegangers want the toys of power. After solving a few puzzles to get out of Stinky’s Dinner, they soon find the lab of where the Sam clones are being made. So, Sam & Max must find the mystery of these clones and who really is behind this terror. Sam & Max episode four will take about 3 hrs to complete.

GAMEPLAY:

Sam & Max the Devil’s Playhouse episode four “Beyond the alley of the dolls” features tons of improved puzzles, more toys of power, great, smart and funny dialogue. The puzzles within this episode are pretty unique on its own accord. There was one puzzle in this episode that changes at random during each Playthrough. Others were basic but, complex puzzles that needed timing, smarts, and the toys of power. These puzzles would not be unique without the toys of power. There are new toys of power that will be added to your inventory wheel for Max to use. These toys come in the form of Playing cards in which can read peoples mind and the Cthonic Destroyer which will destroyer anything from the dark dimension. Ones that come back are Charlie Ho-Tep which is a creepy ventriloquism doll, Rhinoplasty, Telephone, and Future Vision. All these toys help Sam & Max get through the puzzles and problems within the episode. Finally, is the dialogue in which is still funny, smart, and just great to listen to random stuff and things that relate to old movies and other Sam & Max games.The only problem I saw with the gameplay was a little glitch during the beginning of the game where Max takes out his gun but, then his pistol would disappear. That was the only thing I saw but, overall the game works as perfect as the other episode.

CLOSING NOTE:

Sam & Max The Devil’s Playhouse Episode Four “Beyond the alley of the dolls” is a great addition to the series and house a lot of fun and unique ideas for the final episode. Overall, this is the next best episode, next to my favorite Episode 2 “The Tomb of Sammnu-Mak.” The Final episode is near at hand, so get ready for the season to end with a bang in Sam & Max The Devil’s Playhouse Episode Five “The City that Dares Not Sleep”

As most of you know, Sony introduced the minis line to introduce great games at a very affordable price for people to play at home and on the go. Games that are fun and addictive. Supermarket Mania feels right at home in that case as a PS3/PSP Mini. The title falls into the genre of Time Management game. These titles are primarily found on PC. It was apart of a fad in PC games a few years back and now it has made it mainstream to consoles and handhelds. Can Supermarket Mania stand up to the height set by the genre and become a hit on the consoles, or will it simply fall short.

The Story
You play Nikki who basically single handedly runs a grocery store. Throughout the story mode you are given these small comic strip cutscenes that you can use to piece together a story. It’s nothing special at all but at least it exists. The real point of the game is the fun, not the story. You Nikki through a host of levels in story mode and in Endless mode. Through the story you bounce from grocery store to grocery store on your way to becoming the best at managing a supermarket and keeping shelves stocked.

Time Management
Time management games are very addictive and this game is nothing different. You will drown hours out on PS3 and PSP as you play this fun little title. The endless mode simply has countless hours of fun. The story mode can last you anywhere between 3-5 hours which is very good for a mini. The controls are very easy to get used to on both PSP and PS3, D-pad is how you select and X is the ‘fill’ button. Certain context sensitive events use triangle but that’s really all you will need to know. On the higher levels the game can be a pain but nothing excruciating. As you go through the game you can use the money you earn to upgrade your walk speed and how much your cart can hold and other useful things to accelerate the amount of money you earn.

Mini Fun, Mini Price
If time management games are your thing and you would love to play them on the go on your PSP or PS3 than Supermarket Mania is the game for you. At the extremely affordable price of $4.99 USD, it is worth every penny. It’s what makes it one of the better and more attractively priced games for the amount of gameplay on the minis line of games.
